When uploading an image for the logo, if they appear to be too dissimilar in size, make one smaller by baking in transparent space into the file (usually PNG). For example, create a canvas or artboard that is 500px wide, but make the logo inside of it only 400px wide. The SourceDay logo below has this treatment.
